Good Flims.

During the dramatic period that was when i was ill. i spent a lot of time. sleeping, being ill and watching films. So subsequently i have become a bit of a film junkie! always have been but i am now OBSESSED!

So i thought i would share my thoughts and views on two of my favorite most recently watched films.

FIRST: IN SEARCH OF A MIDNIGHT KISS.

This is honestly one of the most heart warming films i have watching in a long time. if your depressed or sad or just want to snuggle up with a cup of tea and some pop corn and watch a Good, Comic, Romantic and well written film watch this. Directed and written by Alex Holdridge. In Search of a Midnight Kiss is a comic ride and a beautiful journey through love in a modern and romantic Los Angeles on New Year's. it is about a Man called Wilson (Scoot McNairy) an unfortunate man with an amazing dress sense who has had the most upsetting year of his life. He spent the year desperately trying to forget events that happened but failing miserably. His best friend Jacob (Brian McGuire) forces him into posting a personal ad. He is looking for love, being pestered by his mother and his friends so he posts the ad. When Vivian (Sara Simmonds), a quirky yet angry vision of beauty who is determined to find some kind of happiness for a short space of time at the stroke of midnight responds to his add. While she and Wilson walk and talk about downtown LA, each of them fronting and flirting and joking in their self-protecting way, we hear the endless voice mails from her boyfriend who’s crying about her unexplained disappearance. We see vulnerability and bitterness from both characters and the emotional bond that is created i have personally not encountered with many other films. Shot in black-and-white throughout the heart of the film unfolds on the streets as Wilson and Vivian wander about the city. This is the central LA of abandoned theatres, tired pavements and office plazas – miles from Hollywood – and Holdridge does a great job of turning it into a theatre and sucking up all that it has to offer. He reminds us how lonely the city can be.
The film is packed with lovely little scenes, several great lines and a genuinely heartbreaking moment towards the end that comes out of nowhere.
Its just Beautiful and i love it. the music in it is brilliant the idea is brilliant the acting is brilliant the fact that it is in black and white is brilliant, the lack of budget makes it brilliant. i love it. so watch it. !
this is the trialer.

Second: American History X.
His father taught him to hate. His friends taught him rage. His enemies gave him hope.
Some Legacies Must End.
Violence as a way of life.
United by hate, divided by truth
See reality in your eyes when hate makes you blind.
A brutal Neo Nazi skinhead named Derek Vinyard is tried and sent to prison for three years for the murder of two black guys who tried to steal his truck. When he returns from prison reformed, his younger brother Daniel Vinyard who idolizes him is on the brink of becoming a Neo Nazi himself. Derek must save his younger brother from a similar fate.
In the opening scene, we see a young skinhead white supremacist by the name of Danny Vinyard (Edward Furlong) sitting in the principals office, waiting to be summoned. As we move into the office, we hear and see Danny's history teacher explaining to the principal, Dr. Sweeney (Avery Brooks), that Danny wrote a book report on Mein Kampf, a book detailing Hitler and his memoirs. The teacher tells Dr. Sweeney that he is offended by Danny's gesture and he wants to see him punished. Instead, Sweeney asks the teacher to leave and asks Danny to step in. American flag toothpick in mouth, Danny steps into the office and sits down. Dr. Sweeney begins yelling at Danny, telling him that writing what he did is offensive and he only did it because his brother influenced him in that way. Danny argues of course but in the end Sweeney wins and tells him that he is now his new history teacher. The class is called American History X and the next assignment is due tomorrow morning; a paper on his brother, Derek (Edward Norton). After this, Danny walks out. The next scene opens with three black boys beating up a white boy for telling the teacher that one of them cheated. Suddenly, Danny appears out of one of the stalls and demands that they stop. One boy argues with him but Danny simply blows the smoke from his cigarette into his face. The boys leave, Danny helps the white kid from the ground and tells him that he needs to learn to stand up for himself and they leave. Soon we see Danny walking home from school through a park where some black men are playing basketball; one is the boy from the bathroom. Danny's voice begins to narrate the scene and we learn that before Derek went to jail, the white kids didn't have to be afraid of the black kids, Derek made it safe. The next scenes are flashbacks explaining Derek's journey from a suburban white kid to a vengeance-seeking white supremacist. When Danny and Derek were younger, a black drug dealer shot their father while he was fighting a fire. Soon after that, an old white supremacist sought out Derek, hoping to begin a new movement throughout the suburban white kid culture. Cameron (Stacy Keach), the old white supremacist, told Derek that what happened to his father was an act of racism by the black man and it wasn't right and he, or any other white kid, shouldn't be scared. So Derek began rounding up scared suburban white kids for his new gang and telling them that there was nothing to be afraid of anymore. This new craze became so popular among the kids of Venice Beach that Derek soon became an icon. His legacy started then and continued even throughout the time he spent in jail. The night Derek went to jail, three black guys were trying to break into his car and Danny heard them so he told Derek. He rushed downstairs, gun in hand, and opened the door and began shooting the men. He knocked off two of the three but one man wasn't dead yet so Derek demanded the man to put his teeth on the curb and not move. Then he broke the man's neck. Almost immediately the police arrive and take Derek away.In jail, Derek tried to find a group of people to hang out with so that he didn't have to fend for himself. Not too long after arriving, he found a group of white supremacists that accepted him. As time went by, Derek noticed and started to realize the compromises men made to stay ahead in the jail - because the supremacists were a minority, they paid a non-white gang to keep them safe. When he learned that a fellow white supremacist was doing favors for a Mexican man, he became enraged and stopped interacting with the group. Later, Derek was assigned laundry duty with a black inmate. The man was friendly toward Derek, but Derek was not friendly back, at first. Soon the man and Derek began to befriend each other and became good acquaintances. The friendship angered the white supremacist group even more than they already were because Derek left , so to get revenge, they jumped Derek in the showers and one of them raped him. The day this happened, Dr. Sweeney, who was also Derek's teacher, came to visit him. As soon as he arrived, Derek cried and told Sweeney that he wanted out and that he wanted to take everything back and move as far away as possible so he wouldn't hurt his family anymore. Dr. Sweeney told Derek that it wasn't enough and that Danny was headed down the same path and he must do whatever was necessary for Danny to not end up like him. Derek agreed and told him that he was ready to do whatever once he was out. Some time later, Derek is released from prison and returns home to find that Danny has become a white supremacist as well. He also learns that what was once a small following has turned into a considerably large one. That night, Danny and Derek both go to a party that Cameron is throwing for Derek's homecoming. Once there, he finds his old girlfriend, Stacey (Fairuza Balk), and asks her to move far away with him. He tells her that he doesn't want any of this anymore, he's done with white supremacy. Following that, she asks him if he's crazy and runs off in anger. After that, Derek looks for Danny and finally finds him in Cameron's office. Derek tells Danny to leave and that there is a girl outside waiting for him. After Danny leaves, Derek confronts Cameron and tells him that he's done with the whole white supremacist thing and he knows Cameron's game. What Derek says infuriates Cameron and they start to argue. The argument ends when Derek punches Cameron in the face and then kicks him again while he's down. Derek leaves and calls for Danny to come with him. On his way out, Seth Ryan (Ethan Suplee), a friend of Derek's before he went to jail, starts yelling at him and demanding an answer as to what happened to Cameron. Derek is befuddled and keeps yelling for Danny but then Seth pulls out a gun and points it at Derek. Stacey begins to yell from the side, "Shoot him! Shoot him!" and Seth continues to get closer and closer. Just as Seth is about to do it, Derek grabs the gun and points it up then pushes him and tells him to step away. Derek calls Danny and starts to run away, gun in hand.Soon Danny catches up to him and Derek begins to explain. Even though Danny is frustrated with Derek, because he's giving up the only thing he thinks brings the white kids hope against the non-white race, he understands and forgives him and they walk home. When they arrive, Danny begins working on his paper and Derek enters the room. They both look at each other and move toward the wall that is covered in white supremacist propaganda; they take everything down. When they're done, Danny returns to the computer to write his paper and Derek gets into the shower. The following morning, at sunrise, Danny is narrator, telling us the end to his story. He says that he's never watched the sunrise before and he hopes that this paper is what he, Dr. Sweeney, is looking for. Derek gets ready for his meeting with the probation officer and soon they leave together. Derek walks Danny to school before his meeting, and on their way they stop at a café. There, they meet up with Dr. Sweeney and a cop. They tell Derek that Cameron and Seth Ryan were found last night after being jumped and they are now in the hospital. Dr. Sweeney and the cop both ask Derek if he knows anything about it and he swears he doesn't. Derek tells them that he has somewhere to go and that he's going to walk Danny to school before he goes. They set off on their way. As Derek is dropping him off, he staggers over words and finally says I'll see you at home. Danny departs for the front doors and Derek heads down the street. While he's walking, the audience can sense the fear in Derek. At the same time, Danny enters the bathroom just before class starts. What Danny doesn't know is that the black boy from the day before is in the bathroom as well. When Danny finishes and turns around, he meets face to face with the kid. He raises a gun and shoots Danny a number of times and he falls to the ground.Next we see Derek is in the bathroom with Danny. He sits with him and holds his body close to his. The only things we can hear between sobs are the remarks Derek is making to himself about what he's done. Immediately after, Danny's voice takes over as narrator and we hear the closing statement of the paper he's written about Derek: "So I guess this is where I tell you what I learned - my conclusion, right? Well, my conclusion is: Hate is baggage. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time. It's just not worth it. Derek says it's always good to end a paper with a quote. He says someone else has already said it best. So if you can't top it, steal from them and go out strong. So I picked a guy I thought you'd like. 'We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.' "
American History X is not reviewed very highly but i love it. Some scenes are the most distressing things i have ever watched and it is nail bitingly disturbing, but the story is actually quite lovely as it is a story of change and correcting your past wrong doings. It infuriated me that i ended up feeling great empathy for Edward Norton's character as he was such an idiot.
Watch it and make up your own mind. But i Truly loved it, Cried at the end and felt that the switch to past and present using black and white and colour was very ingenious.

More Celebrities

So the past few weeks have been all a bit crazy in the celebrity world. Jordan and Peter are rowing, did he cheat? why does she not wear her wedding ring..etc. Things have heated up for Gordon Ramsey not in the Kitchen but in the bedroom as he has become a lusting love cheat and has an older Mistress who lives in Wales. Cheryl (the most beautiful woman on the planet) and Ashley Cole Have been having tiffs yet again and Cheryl is apparently devastated as she desperately wants a baby but is not able to conceive currently, If you ask me having a child is not the way to make you and your cheating husband happy, she probably is unable to conceive due to her hectic job of being a British treasure (Being the Prettiest Girls Aloud member and the best Judge on the X Factor can not be an easy job) and the stress that her husband puts her under probably doesn't help either.
I am a self confessed celebrity junkie and am addicted to I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and as i have said before love Nicola McLean just because she is so foolish, loud and ignorantly opinionated. But i did feel sorry for her this week as Esther Ranzen voiced her opinion on Nicolas Breasts. She said "We were all awestruck with Nicola's boobs...Silence fell in the camp and we admired them...When you are that slender nature decrees that you have small boobs. In getting breast enlargements what we are doing is creating a totally impossible female shape... It's not good for kids to think that unless they look like that they are not going to be attractive humans beings.”
I personally feel Nicola has made her own choice and for her Career as a Glamour Model she needs big bountiful boobs. Its her way of making a living and i don't feel Esther has the right to belittle "Kids" by saying we don't have our own minds.

Another thing that has frustrated me this week to the point that i have lost all respect for her is blooming Britney Spears. She is such a fool. time and time and time and time again fans of hers have bravely stuck by her convinced themselves that she will eventually, one day return to her former glory. COME ON. It has been about 6 years now. she has totally lost the plot. she shaves her head. BAD. her kids get taken off her. BAD. she is out party with Paris Hilton all the time. BAD. she totally ruined her so called come back at the MTV awards a year ago and so we gave her another chance. The X Factor decided lets have Brit do her thing in Britain. I was lulled into a false sense of security by Dermot when he was blabbing on about how brilliant she was to become again and was actually quite excited to see her performance. And then it started. Beginning was good (the bit before she was on stage) then she came out the double doors with lots of smoke and curtains ooooo its Britney wow! we all stared at our televisions in awe. She did a few half hearted body shaking movements that was meant to be dancing and then proceeded to Lip Sing. BRITNEY!
WHAT ARE YOU DOING. ah it annoyed me so much. She was a genius well, not her but the people pulling her strings were doing a fantastic job of making Britney (little Britney) a massive marketable superstar when she wowed everyone and stormed the charts with Hit me baby one more time. but unfortunately i think it is time to let go to that Britney. she is gone and never coming back.
James Corden spoke the truth to a shocked and bewildered Holly Willoughby on the Xtra Factor and said what everyone was really thinking about Brits performance. He said that the memaining X Factor contestants were better than her and he does have a point. at least they are actually singing. Then, when asked about Britneys big comeback James replied, "I've already got the CD, so I don't really need to see someone come out and mime it." James went on to slam Britney's "half-arsed performance" and questioned why she had vanished off the show so quickly. James wasn't afraid to say what a lot of people were clearly thinking.

So it would appear that i have been ignoring my blog recently. And this is because i have been very very ill. but now i am back, fighting fit. So it's all good!
I'm very excited to be launched straight into our horror movie making. Being a girl who has always loved blood horror and gore it will be extremely fascinating to be behind and in font of the camera rather than just watching it happen. My group which is consisting of Danni, Tom, Georgia and I will be very productive as we all have different ideas and we are all very positive! so it's all good!
Not really to sure what to write today. Having a bit of a mind blank... have been watching the usual rubbish on television, The X Factor. I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here (Which should be renamed 'No one knows who i am but please save me...!') Back in the day they had the likes of Katy Price (Jordan) Kerry Katona, Peter Andre all slightly more well known than Timmy Mallett and David Van Day, they are clearly needing a bit more money in the big old credit crunch and need to make some easy cash.Timmy Mallett’s not been in the Jungle for too long and already he’s causing a few problems and defiantly getting on some peoples wicks. Mind you, it doesn’t take much to get Mr Grumpy Pants Kilroy in a huff, but after he’d completed a Bushtucker Trial, Kilroy was so irritated by Timmy that he had a few stern words for the ever-cheerful children’s TV presenter.

Nicola is my favourite. She is full of anger and hate and is up for anything.

Friday 3 October 2008

Today in general studies Mr.V was asking us to research why the film A Clockwork Orange was banned. This subject I find very interesting not only because most films that get banned are violent and cause emotional distress (two things I love about films) but also because, why should films be banned? Paintings, comics, television, film, music, books are all a form of art and so therefore should be allowed and seen by all, people should have the opportunity to interpret them in their own way. we all view things differently and we all react to things differently so why should British Board of Film Censors (BBFC) or art critics ban them.

Clockwork Orange was adapted from Anthony Burgess's best-selling novel written in the invented street slang Nadsat, A Clockwork Orange tells the story of Alex (Malcolm McDowell) and his thug friends, addicted to mindless acts of violence, killing tramps and raping women. Equally violent is the state's aversion therapy Alex is forced to endure to cure him of his addiction. A Clockwork Orange became infamous in 1973, not because of the extreme violence on show, but for director Stanley Kubrick's decision to withdraw the movie in the UK, because of copycat acts of violence blamed on the film.
The British Board of Film Censors (BBFC) had released the film uncut with the X rating, but received a number of complaints that the film would damage society by inspiring teenagers to violence. Through out 1972 and 1973, police linked cases of teenage violence to "Clockwork Orange." Simply having the culprit admit to reading the book was enough proof for the public that the film was a bad influence. In response to the uproar it was causing in Britain, Kubrick had the film withdrawn from the country, even though it had already been running for 61 weeks there.

In the United Kingdom, the sexual violence in the film was considered extreme. Furthermore, it was claimed that the film had inspired copycat behaviour. The press blamed the influence of the film for an attack on a homeless person and a rape in which the attackers sang "Singin' in the Rain". Kubrick subsequently requested that Warner Brothers withdraw the film from UK distribution.

The principle of A Clockwork Orange and how it was banned interlinks with the Finnish Shooting. The gunman, reportedly identified as Pekka-Eric Auvinen, shot himself in the head and later died in hospital. The shooting happened in Tuusula, some 50km (30 miles) north of Helsinki, and officials have set up a crisis centre to help those affected by the tragedy. The gunman gave a warning of the attack in a video posted on the internet. The home-made film called "Jokela High School massacre 11/7/2007" shows a young man pointing a gun and declaring himself a "social Darwinist" who would "eliminate all who I see unfit". Pekka-Eric Auvinen's video is similar to the one made by Cho Seung Hui, who sent a recording of himself to the US NBC television network before killing 32 students at Virginia Tech University in April.
The young man, named locally as Pekka-Eric Auvinen, was armed with a .22 calibre pistol, for which he obtained a licence on 19 October. The gunman did not have a criminal record and "was from an ordinary family". So what possesed him become deranged?

Auvinen killed nine people: five male students (ages 16-18) and one female adult student (age 25)the school principal, Helena Kalmi (age 61); the school nurse (age 43); and Auvinen himself. One other person suffered gunshot wounds, and eleven people were injured by shattering glass while escaping from the school building. The morning of the incident, Auvinen posted a video on YouTube announcing the massacre at the school. The perpetrator in the shootings was Pekka-Eric Auvinen, 18 (June 4, 1989 - November 7, 2007), who was born in Tuusula, Finland. He described himself in oxymoronic terms, such as, "a cynical existentialist, antihuman humanist, antisocial social darwinist, realistic idealist and godlike atheist" on his YouTube user page Sturmgeist89.In the investigation by the police it was confirmed that he had been a victim of school bullying for years.

Pekka-Eric Auvinen uploaded a home-made video entitled "Jokela High School Massacre - 11/7/2007" to YouTube announcing the "massacre" hours prior to the shooting. KMFDM's "Stray Bullet" was used as background music. Videos of him shooting his new gun had been uploaded weeks prior to the shooting. Several hours after the event, YouTube suspended some videos belonging to the username Sturmgeist89 due to relations with the shootings. His previous YouTube account name was "naturalselector89", which he used from March until it was suspended in October. Many of his videos were about other shootings and violent incidents, including the Columbine High School massacre, the Waco Siege, the Tokyo sarin gas attack, and bombing during the Iraq invasion.

According to his YouTube profile, his interests were natural selection and hate for humanity. He stated that he was hoping to inspire a revolution of the "small minority of strong-minded and intelligent individuals" against the "idiocracy" of the "weak-minded masses". He did not want anything or anyone to be blamed for the shooting, and had planned it "in his own head".

He left a media package on Rapidshare, a hosting site, explaining his actions and his motives for the shooting. It includes details of the attack, a manifesto, his "loves & hates", some images of himself and a video of him firing a handgun. "I am prepared to fight and die for my cause," read a posting by Sturmgeist. "I, as a natural selector, will eliminate all who I see unfit, disgraces of human race and failures of natural selection." Sturmgeist means "storm spirit" in German.

Several newspapers have suggested similarities between and inspirations for Auvinen's actions in the Columbine shootings. Auvinen's YouTube videos included footage related to Columbine. The KMFDM track used in his video, "Stray Bullet", was also used on the website of Columbine shooter Eric Harris

So was he a copyCat killer trying to mimic the Columbine shooter, was he mentally messed up due to being bullied at school. or has the media corrupted him into becoming a lunatic??
The killings after A Clockwork orange was shown to me personally are very bizare as i do not think as humans we have the random instinct to kill and hurt people just for the fun of it. i do feel that we are occassionally victims to the media and we can greatly influenced by what we see.

The Media Diary... Are we being Corrupted (possibly?)

Through out this week I have discovered that my life is a bit odd. I am possibly not all there… normal people would go to bed at a normal time… Me? No! I have to stay up till a silly hour of the early morn listening to heavy trance! Bizarre I think so.
You could also argue that my life does appear very routine like and boring, but I advise that you look at yours also as I feel we are all oblivious to how much of our time is dominated by Television, Internet, FACEBOOK, Music and Advertisements.

MONDAY!
So on Monday after school what do i do... Head straight to Costa with my nearest and dearest for a good old natter and to be hounded by subliminal messages URGING me to buy Costa Coffees as they are a 'Taste of Experience'
5pm.After bidding my friends farewell at i plonk in my ipod and walk home, i am currently !!!LOVING!!! Glasvegas and they are right up there on my 'most recently played'
During my walk home along the High Street a bus passes me with an advertisement for a new film called 'The Women'... it doesn't look too good so i don't think i will be booking a seat at the cinema to watch it.
5.15pm. I get home and automatically put on the kettle and the radio, i then have a laaavvvvllleeeyy cuppa tea whilst cooking my lazy brother his dinner and listening to 'The Scott Mills Show' on Radio 1, they seem to have 'Katy Perry's, i kissed a girl and i liked it' on repeat and i am getting pretty sick of it.
6.30pm.I put my Favorite soap on. Yes... that's right. Hollyoaks. I find that all the episodes all mingle into one massive one, but i still watch it ritually as i do blooming love it, it has got so far form 'real life' that it is laughable and occasionally the acting is so poor that you either cry with laughter or pity the poor actors.
7.30pm. my Boyfriend popped over and we watched V for Vendetta. It was the first time i had watched it and i will happily admit there were occasions when i got a bit watery eyed. The film was very good and i thought the idea behind it was especially intriguing. Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, V For Vendetta tells the story of a mild-mannered young woman named Evey who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked vigilante known only as "V." Incomparably charismatic and ferociously skilled in the art of combat and deception, V ignites a revolution when he detonates two London landmarks and takes over the government-controlled airwaves, urging his fellow citizens to rise up against tyranny and oppression.
10pm. we then watched some comic genius. Dylan Moran “I can't swim. I can't drive, either. I was going to learn to drive but then I thought, well, what if I crash into a lake?”
"You watch your small child walking around with a plug looking for jam,Me: What are you doing?Child: Looking for jam Me: Why?Child: Because I'm making plug jam, don't ask stupid fucking questions!"
"You know it's a sad day when your child looks at you and asks 'Daddy, are these organic?'"
"Organic? I grew up on Angel Delight. We didn't have anything in the house if it wasn't neon!"

12pm. i ventured onto the computer for a bit o FACEBOOK and a bit o Itunes. my boyfriend had made me a CD so i had a good listen to that. love it to be honest. got some classics on it such as 'Police and Thieves' by The Clash, 'Tickle me Pink' by Johnny Flynn, and some other stuff which i just love such as M.I.A, 'Postcards from Italy' by Beirut and my Favorite song 'If i was" by Billy The Kid.
i was on the computer for a good 3 hours and eventually fell asleep listening to Tiësto's Elements of Life Trance Album on repeat.

Tuesday!
I was off school on Tuesday as was not feeling well at all.
So...
2pm.woke up to the sound of the mobile ringing. Kings Of Leon. Sex on Fire. What a tuuuunnneeee. Jen was on the phone so had a brief chat with her, then took my magical music box to the shower where i listened to the new Chase and Status Album. Chase and Status are classic Drum'n'Bass and i am a massive Fan, they are holding an underground Rave soon so will defiantly be trying to get to that.
2.30pm. After shower return to my messy bedroom and get dressed and dry my hair listening to Radio1. The songs are all a bit repetitive at the moment.
4pm. Computer computer... FACEBOOK. facebook. it concerns me greatly how i am unable to focus on anything else whilst on facebook. Am becoming a facebook junkie??.
4.30pm. watched Mr and Mrs Smith with the Hubby. it is funny in parts, but its not all great. do love a bit of Brad Pitt though so all is well. and Angelina is just a Babe.
8pm. Radio was listened to. Collin Murry's show i believe, he was talking about Kings of Leon a lot (Good Man!!!). i also missed Hollyoaks but I'm sure i will survive! was cooking my brother some Nosh and then i sat down to read some Heat Magazine. Cover Story was about skinny Stars.. well isn't that a surprise...?! i hate it how in Celebrity Magazines they will slate celebrities for being Skinny and then 20 pages into the Magazine there is an image of Colleen Mcloughlin with red circles all over it picking on all the areas that no woman would want noticed and saying things like 'don't her ankles look chubby' and 'she could do with dropping a dress size'
MAKE YOUR MIND UP! are we to be size zero or are we to be happy and healthy? i think celebrity magazines are defiantly an area of the media where readers can be corrupted as they look at say Cheryl Cole's radically shrinking frame and think..."Yeah she's fit.. i want to look like her" how do they do it.. become anorexic. not cool.
9pm. ventured on to the computer for a bit more FACEBOOK. music music music. brought a new trance anthem! all good. thought i could do with an early night. so decided to wiggle off the computer and depart to the Boudoir.
9.15pm. ipod, ipod and more ipod. it was just blaring good tune after good tune. also read some of Enduring Love which is one of my English Literature Novel. Its a bit silly. and has sort of brought on a weird Phobia of hot air balloons but I'm sure it will pass.
11.30pm. Phone music. have got some classic cheesy tunes on my phone so fancied a listen.
11.45pm. off to bed with Dave Pearce in the background.

Wednesday!!
7.30am. On with the ipod. it's a great way to wake up. Had The Maccabees playing so it put me in a good mood for the day.

7.50am. Radio. Chris Moyles Show on Radio1. My God that man can talk....get ready. put make up on. sort me hair out. try and look presentable. doesn't always work! wiggle off to school.
8.20am. walking to school. don't ive too far away so its a relaxing walk. arrive. go to house rooms. go to chapel.

9am. Have 'Free's.. i mean. Private reading. Do some Notes with Johnny and Listen to my ipod.
4.15pm. finish school. what do we do. Costa. we inhabit Costa everyday after school. scary really how much we must spend in there. Coffee's not that great either....

6pm. Go to Hubbys house. listen to many alternate tuunees on route. took us about 45 minutes to walk so was a good music session.

7pm. watch some Hollyoaks on E4. cant comment on it. don't remember much of it. its becomes a mindless watch.

7.30pm. I then did a bit o FACEBOOK and some work. itunes whilst that was all going on. did some youtube browsing for some songs, listened to that Esme denters chick to see if she was any good... Verdict. i don't like her. she has a good voice. but how many more people like her is America going to throw at the world? we don't need another pretty American girl with an innocent voice. it all gets so boring.
went on MSN had various conversations with various people. was pretty routine.
8pm. Hubby suggested we watched true romance. never seen that before either. loved it. very violent. but possibly the cutest love story even if it is a bit dark and twisted.
10pm. was collected. listened to the Last of the Shadow Puppets in the car. i like them. the when i got home watched desperate Housewives.! its good!!!
11pm. Went to the bedroom. watched enduring love on DVD. was a bit odd. didn't get too into it actually.
1pm. read my book 'wish you were here' tis rather comical. about 3 guys, best friends, one is married and super religious, one is a player, and the other has just been dumped after 7 years. they have a mad holiday and it all gets a bit silly.
2pm. ipod. trance. bed. ! :)

THURSDAY!!

7am. up. ipod. shower. party party! then back to my room for some serious hair drying at then getting dressed.

8.15am. wiggle to school. ipod in. very routine. not feeling to ready for school. was not in a good mood. so had some happy songs. sorted me right out.. :)!

2.15pm. Aerobics. Lots and lots of pumping music. is it weird that i love dancing about like a loon to lots of loud music working up a sweat?

The Lessons

So we are learning about the Medias relationship with the audience, it is complicated. Many people feel that the media is a bad influence on us as humans and that it is corrupting our minds. whether i feel if this is true or not is yet to be discovered.

The media want to...
  • Inform their audience.
  • To sell to their audience. (Advertising)
  • To influence the audience. (Magazines, Papers)
  • To entertain.
  • To interact with them. (Websites, Blogs, Podcasts)

TWO OPINIONS OR AUDIENCE MODELS...

  1. The Hypodermic Model. The audience are passive victims (injected or fed media, corrupted and de-sensitivitised by sex and violence)
  2. The Active Audience (the decide how and when media is used, they make choices about what we like and dont like)

A TV programme or newspaper article can influence the reader by offering a postion or point of view such as Charity Adverts.

We have learnt:

Representation, where we take reality, the form our own perception of reality, which finally gives us how we choose to present it.

Plot, a sequence of events told in a story.

Narrative, how the story is told.

Verisimilitude, trying to create a plausible representation.

The New Beginning

Hello and welcome to My Media Blog,
This is my second attempt at creating a serious Blog and hopefully it will be second time lucky....
We are now four weeks into the school term and it is all going well ... ish (touch wood) I was expecting great changes in 6Th form and that is what i got. it is interesting to see the groupings that have developed over the past month and how the people who were once "the new people" have settled in brilliantly, and although there is still a lot to learn from and about them, it feels as if they have always been part of our year.
A great bonding experience was the Young Enterprise Day. This was a whole day dedicated to mixing the year up, then separating us into groups of about 10, and literally threw us in at the deep end by giving us all half an hour to come up with a FANTASTIC, NEW and INGENIOUS business idea that will sell. We then had to make complete fools of ourselves by doing numerous tasks such as creating an advert for our 'creation', standing up in front of the rest of the year to try and sell them our idea and having a mock business meeting with possible investors of our company.
I felt that the day brought everyone a lot closer together and gave all students an insightful look into the business world.
The year was also given the opportunity to actually create a young enterprise business, i and many others jumped at the chance to create a bit of cash and to start our own business. i am in a group filled with 15 lovely people :) and now have the title of HR manager... whether this will proceed to be a GOOD TIME or a BAD TIME will eventually be discovered (and i promise to keep you posted)
So... MEDIA....

Our first Media assignment was set my Mr V. It was to produce a review of our ultimate favourite film like totally EVER!!!
So i decided to do..
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1999)

As a child who has been brought up by her father to love all films which include violence, explosive action and a great deal of humour it was no surprise to my parents to discover that I was becoming more and more interested in gangster films. The Blues Brothers was originally my favourite film but then I was introduced to Lock Stock. The dynamite bundle of dark, dangerous and amoral fun brings a smile to my face whenever I watch it. The acting in lock stock is mostly by a bunch of unknowns which is why I feel the film appeals so much as the film is quick and witty.
Combining crime, drama and comedy, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels proves to be a satisfying watch for any sort of film fan. Set in London’s dark and gritty underworld, it tells the story of four friends,
Jason Flemyng as Tom, Dexter as Soap, Nick Moran as Eddie and Jason Statham as Bacon, who are trying to repay a mob boss, "Hatchet" Harry Lonsdale - a porn king of notorious disposition, after an unruly loss in a game of three card brag. In order to pay off their debts they decide to rob a small-time gang of their hard earned drugs. This unfortunately takes a turn for a worst and results in all of the small-time gang form next door being brutally murdered by Rory Breaker, Gangster and sociopath in a mass shooting.
The film is hilarious as it shows the vicious circles of gang crime and how they will get what they deserve in the end. In Lock, Stock the punishment that most endure is death. The Body Count of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is 17 and each death is as brutal as the next.
1. Smithy Robinson - Bludgeoned to death with "a
15-inch black rubber cock" by Harry.2. Gordon's unnamed associate - Beaten to death with a golf club.3. Gordon - Killed with a Chef's knife sharpening steel by Dog.4. Mickey - Shot by Gloria.5. Paul - Killed in the shootout at Eddie and Bacon's place.6. John - Killed in the shootout at Eddie and Bacon's place.7-10. Rory Breaker's 4 henchmen - Killed in the shootout at Eddie and Bacon's place.11. Plank - Shot several times, until finally killed by Rory Breaker.12. Rory Breaker - Shot by Plank.13. Dean - Shot in the chest by Harry.14. Harry Londsdale - Shot several times by Gary.15. Gary - Killed with a hatchet to the back by Barry.16. Barry - Shot in the stomach by Gary.17. Dog - Crushed repeatedly by a car-door, kicked and beaten by Big Chris.
The Sound track is this film is also fantastic and includes many classics such The Boss" by
James Brown, Police and Thieves" by Junior Murvin and Liar Liar" by The Castaways. Guy Ritchie is my God and I love all films that he has written and directed as they are true comic genius. Although all the films are stereotypical to London gangs and portray them all in the same way I feel this adds to the brilliance of them. Lock, Stock is a timeless classic film that should be watched and loved by all.
